About Me

Kornél Mató, English-Hungarian Translator and Interpreter

I have a firm belief in the problem-solving power of common sense. We overcomplicate our lives and look for complex solutions, when most of the time the answer is quite simple. This defines the way I work: I try to concentrate on important elements and avoid unnecessary ones. This means two things: Honest communication with my customers with no waffle, and professional, accurate and to-the-point translations.

I know and use some of the most advanced translation technology tools. I make use of most of the achievements of our last decade that make our jobs easier in the third millennium. The transformation of this profession does not scare me. I use new tools for my own benefit; I do not submit myself to them. I am open to new things, I am a quick learner, and this can only serve as a benefit for my clients.

I have been working as a freelance translator since 2007. I have translated over a million words in my main areas of expertise (which you can check from the home page). Among the companies using my translations are Google, eBay, Vodafone, Coca-Cola, Sportingbet, GameDesire, Hotels.com, SonyEriccson and Dell, but this list is far from exhaustive.

I have a qualification in Translation and Interpretation from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I also have an MSc degree in Business and Management with a specialisation in Regional and Urban Development. During my university studies, I was a member of Liska Tibor College for Advanced Studies, where I now run a small translation workshop. I spent a semester in Copenhagen, studying Marketing Management in English.
